Used in nuclear power plants, thermocouples are sensors playing an essential role in monitoring the temperature level of the reactors.

To replace old sensors with new ones, the extraction process must be achieved without breaking the sensors. AREVA uses to carry out this touchy operation, more specifically at the French nuclear power plants.  

To secure this process, AREVA relied on METRAVIB Engineering teams to find out the adequate solution. A feasibility study demonstrated that vibrations could significantly reduce the extraction strain while minimizing the risk of breaking the thermocouple.

METRAVIB then developed a pole system with a vibrator and an extraction gripper quickly qualified. Already used successfully in several nuclear power plants, the system is now operational for the coming actions in 2015.
